Barrett Jackson returned to Houston in October of 2022 and this time I was determined to buy something. I didn't.....but I tried. 

I have to say that BJ puts on quite a show. It's more of an event than a lot of other car auctions. There are vendors and things to do, and they host parties that aren't bad. 

We hit up the parties, if for no other reason than it gives you a chance to inspect the vehicles the day before the auction starts. I mentioned that I didn't buy anything. I got fixated on one car and was determined to go home with it. I bid it up and thought I was the winner, only to find out that another bidder in the room was recognized and my ring guy just dropped the ball. I was furious if I'm being honest. There's not really anything that BJ can do at that point, but it left a really bad taste in my mouth.

Here's just a few of the cars I didn't go home with this year...

1960 Austin Mini Seven

Nel continues to be enamored by tiny cars. This one was pretty cool and not overpriced, but I just can't get on board with right hand drive vehicles. 

1974 Volkswagen Thing 'Acapulco Edition'

I was ready to overpay for this one. It was in remarkable restored condition and really cute. I have no idea what I would have done with it, but there were a lot of people that wanted it more than I did. 

1970 Ford Bronco Custom

I didn't really want this Bronco - I like them, but this wasn't my favorite one even at this auction. This picture was taken for the amusement of our friend Stephanie.

1999 Ford F-250 

This picture was taken for the amusement of our four-year old son. He's into monster trucks currently and would have thought this was the coolest thing ever. I actually considered it before coming to my senses.

1959 Vespa 400

I liked this little Vespa, but it wasn't perfect and sold for $33K - way too much for me to justify.
