Ecuador 2022:
Riobamba - Guamote - Alausi - Inca Pirca - Cuence
The next few days of our tour weren't my favorite, but still provided a lot of interesting cultural experiences and unique landscapes and people. I'm just going to rifle through some pictures and try to catch up on my blogging as I'm a couple years behind...according to annoyed family members.
Guinea Pigs! These were everywhere, and usually just being grilled up on the side of the road by multiple vendors at random places. |
They took us to a couple of markets.... |
....and to a school. |
Making a new friend. If it's not human and doesn't run away from me, I will become friends with it. |
This one particular town we stopped in had a bunch of train related things to see. Odd, but interesting. |
Every night we would stay in a hotel somewhere, and usually we had the place more or less to ourselves. It wasn't uncommon to gather in the hotel bar with our tour companions for a few drinks. More often than not though, we would venture out into the night to explore our surroundings.
Another thing that wasn't uncommon was Branelle napping in the bus. She can fall asleep in just about any moving vehicle, which I'm a bit jealous of if I'm being honest. |
While a lot of the towns in Ecuador seemed close to third-world, there were exceptions, like Cuenca. This city was beautiful and worthy of a visit and exploration.
The largest and most well preserved Inca ruins in Ecuador are Ingapirca. We took a lengthy guided tour around the site focused mostly on the history.
