Christiansborg Palace
Copenhagen, Denmark
There are no shortage of palaces and castles in and around Copenhagen, which is good because it made it very easy for me to fulfill my promise of "princess" places to Samantha. Christiansborg is probably the largest and most centrally located.
We just kind of strolled in after lunch and checked it out. We didn't take a tour or anything, just explored on our own. They do ask you to wear these little booties, but otherwise there really aren't a lot of restrictions other than common sense.
Dancing!...or at least twirling. |
This was a great stop for Sam. We basically had the place to ourselves and it's huge so she could really walk around without risking too much trouble. It's also quite spectacular so it definitely made her feel "princess-y".
It's got all the things a castle or palace is supposed to have, like tapestries - but these were more modern and story telling. They kind of looked like paint-by-number.
The dining room was a hit. |
Even Nel got her royal on after a while. |
I think we'd make a great royal family. I'm not sure how good we'd be at solving problems or representing the peasants (sorry, subjects), but we'd be fun!
