Let's Build A Pool! Part 4: Plumbing & Electric

Let's Build A Pool!

Part 4:  Plumbing & Electric

After the gunite cures for a week or so you start to get activity on the underground stuff.  The plumbers were the first to start digging.  They dug perfect trenches -by hand- everywhere they needed to go and they made them progressively smaller as they went.  The main trench from the pool equipment has like 20 lines in it, but as they make turns they would make the trenches smaller.  Some lines on the back side of the pool were just big enough for one pipe.

Maybe it's just me, but I found this to be fascinating!  These guys know exactly what they're doing and really have it down.

Once they got all the trenches dug they set up the pool equipment and started piping.

I had them run me a gas line for the outdoor kitchen we've decided to put in.

You can see how they've run the gas lines up the back of the support beams here for some of the fire features we're going to have.

I didn't take a lot of pictures of this, but the electricians were working as well so you have a sort of underground highway of utilities.

The next step is tile and coping.  It's currently ongoing and I'll cover that in the next post.
